Using LBB Tools to Assess Miter Squid Stock in the Northeastern South China Sea

چکیده
Based on length frequency data of miter squid ( Uroteuthis chinensis ) collected in the northeastern South China Sea 1975–1977, 1997–1999, and 2018–2019, asymptotic length, optimal at first capture, relative mortality, biomass stock were estimated using length-based Bayesian estimation (LBB). The LBB-estimated for 2018–2019 was smaller. Optimal lengths capture later far exceeded average catches because a major increase fishing intensity. Between 1975 1977, total mortality Z / K low, but it increased latter two periods, while natural M showed downward trend. Relative biomasses B 0 msy indicated that close to unexploited between they declined levels 6% 4% which correspond growth horsepower. Indeed, by 2018, horsepower nearly four times level. analysis suggests has been overfished since mid-1980s is now under heavy pressure. To recover stock, imperative reduce intensity enforce size-at-first-capture regulations.

Coastal upwelling in summer 2000 in the northeastern South China Sea
[1] Using a combination of hydrographic, tide-gauge, near-bottom mooring, and satellite observations; and a numerical circulation model, we investigate the coastal upwelling in the northeastern South China Sea (NSCS) off the coast of Fujian and Guangdong Provinces, China, in the summer of 2000. Subsurface upwelling phenomenon exists mainly near the bottom boundary in the whole region investigat...

Two subsurface Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) were deployed in the northeastern South China Sea to study the circulation structure in the area as well as the path and process of the Kuroshio intrusion. The 48 h low-pass filtered data, for the first time, reveal significant intra-seasonal variations in the velocity field. Flow is alternately cyclonic or anticyclonic even within a sing...

متن کاملStatus of Rocks in the Law of the Sea with Relying on the South China Sea Arbitration Award
Abstract Islands and rocks are entitled different maritime zones in international law of the sea. Article 121(3) allocated to rocks has articulated briefly and without indicating any definitions or characters of this feature. Paragraph 3 provided two conditions for rocks in order to create exclusive economic zone and continental shelf zone. The South China Sea tribunal has interpreted this pa...
